Pupil Shuraa (Council) Visit the Salvation Army

Pupil Shuraa visited the Salvation Army , Harrington Street, Preston, PR1 7BN to take the food parcels donated by parents over the past few weeks. Pupils helped carry over 80 food bags into the centre and first hand the volunteers sorting out the food into different groups which included cereals, pasta, Bolognese sauce and biscuits.

Pupils then shared their cards and poems which they had made with the volunteers and had an opportunity to talk to Captain Dr. Alex Cadogan about the work of the Salvation Army. He has invited the pupils in EYFS to visit the centre after the festive period for a morning. Pupils will have an opportunity to look at the Brass band, trying an instrument or two. Pupils will also have a look at the uniforms worn and the work of the Salvation Army including sorting food out and feeding the homeless.

A huge thankyou to all the volunteers at the Salvation Army.

Mrs Isap, Learning Coach for Ibn Salamah commented, “It is an eye opener visiting places like the Food bank and it truly is a great initiative for the school to be involved in.”

A Umarji, Year 2 pupil commented, “I will try to finish all my food from now on. Visiting the centre has made me realise that there are many families who do not have much food.”
