Welcome from the Chair
As Chair of Governors at The Olive School, Preston, I am delighted to welcome you to our website. We aim to build a school with an intensive but accessible and enjoyable curriculum, underpinned by an inclusive faith ethos. With an emphasis on promoting character development through a rich and diverse leadership programme that highlights the importance of civic and social action, we hope to nurture caring and responsible citizens and inspire the leaders of tomorrow.
The Governing Body will support the school’s Senior Leadership Team to ensure that pupils’ best interests are always at the forefront of every decision made. We will support the work of the Trust’s Central Team and act as a “critical friend,” holding the school to account for pupils’ performance and behaviour, as well as monitoring the performance of teachers. We will also help to define the strategic direction of the school to ensure pupils’ needs are being met in every respect.
My fellow Governors and I voluntarily devote our time and effort to ensuring the school’s success, and we are excited about the prospect of working with staff, pupils, families and friends to help transform the life chances of young people in our local community.
