Welcome from the Principal
At The Olive School, Preston, our children are at the heart of everything we strive to achieve and we prioritise them in every decision that we make. We believe every child is special and unique and we work hard to ensure that children of all abilities and backgrounds have the opportunity to explore their individual talents and are inspired to become the best young person they can be.
By emphasising faith as a force for good, instilling a love of learning, and teaching our pupils the importance of being kind, compassionate and respectful, we encourage them to develop a keen sense of right and wrong, a commitment to helping others, and appreciate the value of hard work.
Our curriculum is broad and balanced, with an emphasis on high expectations and behaviour for learning within the context of a happy, safe and engaging environment. We believe strongly in positive reinforcement and rewarding our pupils for exemplifying our STAR values of Service, Teamwork, Ambition and Respect. Through our leadership specialism, we will lay the groundwork for our children to become confident, well-rounded individuals, with real leadership potential, enabling them to enter secondary school with an excellent academic and moral foundation.
Our school vision of educational excellence is based upon our unshakeable belief that every child is special and unique and has the capacity within themselves to flourish and succeed. As teachers, we feel honoured and privileged with the responsibility for nurturing, inspiring and supporting every special individual child at our school to make sure they are able to shine, succeed and develop their natural gifts and talents. Our vision for the school is reflected in everything we do. We are determined to provide all our children with inspirational and unforgettable learning experiences.
Our school is built on the values of self-discipline, compassion, mutual respect for all people regardless of difference and respect for the earth itself. These fundamental values underpin the Muslim faith and our British society. We live in a multicultural society and we want our pupils to develop into confident, articulate young people who will grow into great role models within the society in which they live.
The Olive School, Preston, is currently located at London House, the building adjacent to The Eden Boys, Preston. As Star Schools, both schools work in true partnership together.
The initial year at the school was a very successful one with 93% of pupils in EYFS achieving a Good Level of Development and 100% of Year 1 pupils passing the Phonics Screening Test.
I have a vision to make The Olive School a hub for all the different audiences who belong to our family. We encourage parents, carers and the local community to take an active role in both the school’s development and their child’s education, as they will play a pivotal part in helping our school to achieve and sustain excellence.
